Satya Success Stories


Madanagopal is a 10 year old boy with both mental and physical disabilities. At first he could not even sit up straight and was not admitted to any special school. He was confined to his home and had never met anyone outside of his family until he came to Satya Special School. With the help of Satya he is now able to sit upright with a smile on his face.
Raghu is 40 years old and was born with mental disabilities as well as no teeth. He had never been socialized and could not speak. Satya provided him with dentures and Raghu's life changed. He learned to speak and is now an exceptionally skilled rug maker! He can supplement his families income with his new skill and is very happy with his freedom of speech.
  Danush was diagnosed as Cerebral palsy only in his second year. Until then, the parents were depending on Godman and family deities to treat him. With no improvement in his condition, they brought him to the therapy center. Though the child showed lot of improvement in walking and stretching, the parents discontinued the therapy sessions and treated him with native medication (tribal medicines). Superstitions and beliefs have led deterioration in the child's condition, but now he is starting his therapy sessions afresh.  
  Lakshmipriya was diagnosed as Cerebral Palsy during the last month's of her mothers pregnancy. The condition aggravated due to poor nutritional health of the mother. The child had problems sitting, standing, walking and motor control. She has been a regular for therapy for the last 6 months. Today she walks around with aid and manages to express a few words due to speech therapy.  
  Mahalakshmi was diagnosed as Spastic with over 90% disability immediately after birth. The complications the Mother had during and after delivery aggravated due to lack of oxygen to the brain was citied as the main reason for her condition by the Physician. The mother was unable to accept the child's condition complicated by the arrival of the normal second sibling. Mahalakshmi was therefore under the care of her uncle who brought her to the therapy center a year ago. In spite of her being irregular for the therapy sessions, today she is able to walk with the help of a walker. Mahalakshmi would be an ideal beneficiary for the van that can bring her to the center for therapy regularly.  
  Kiran was diagnosed as a Cerebral Palsy child, a few hours after his birth. Kiran was taken to a special school in Chennai where he lived. After 3 years in Chennai, he was brought to Satya due to his families shift in residence. With aids, Kiran is now able to walk and he is happy doing his therapy sessions.  
  Abinash was born a normal child and showed no signs of any disability until the age of 3 yrs. He suffered a fall at 3 years which was brushed aside as a minor fall by the parents. It was only after a few weeks, when the child developed fever, that he stopped walking, developed epileptic fits, drooling, could not sit, stopped speaking and his neck would not hold the head and would be always bent. With no response to treatment from any hospital, he was brought to the school for therapy. Today, in 1 year he sits for 3 hours and plays with his toys. Though he cannot regain his walk, he has been provided with a wheel chair that helps his mobility. He needs continuous therapy and follow up.
