Satya to head state-wide disability survey

Satya Special School has taken one more step toward accessing reliable, comprehensive, and up-to-date data about People with Disabilities in the state of Pondicherry.

Satya signed an MoU with the Govt of Pondicherry for a survey of the status of PwDs in the state. This will throw light on the real prevalence and status of PwDs, who may have any of the 21 disabilities notified by the Government of India. With the earlier survey only counting seven disabilities, people with the other 14 disabilities were in the shadows.

This survey will provide clear data, so we can provide more focused services, and better advocacy. The survey is expected to be completed in August, with a report due by September. The project is supported by Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiatives and the Government of Pondicherry.
